The time has come. I’m ready to get a bit lighter than I am now. Time and time again the benefits of weighing less are reported… longer life, better cholesterol, better insulin use, etc. etc. Thus, I’ve joined online Weight Watchers.
In the effort of full disclosure and a bit of accountability, I’ll be posting my progress here.
Start date: Jan. 4th 2008
Weight: 175.0
Height (not expecting this to change): 5′8″
BMI: 26.6
GOALS:
Weight: 150
BMI: 22.8
So, there you have it. I’ll post weekly updates on Mondays, which is when I “weigh in” online. So far, it seems easy enough. I’m 100% positive that it won’t stay that way.

I’m planning on starting Weight Watchers too! SuperG has inspired me to finally join to help me reach one of my 101 goals of losing 20 pounds. Shouldn’t be too hard in the next 1,001 days but of course, then I actually need to keep the weight off. Here’s to both of us losing the weight!
Good Luck!!! With all this online support cheering you on, you have a great advantage.
Wow, you know, I was actually wondering the other day how much Weight Watchers would cost. I’m not sure if I’m ready to pursue it yet, but if you make good progress, maybe it’ll be in the front of my mind.
Weight Watchers is:
Online: $16.95 per month, with a 25 or so $ startup fee.
Monthly Pass (unlimited meetings & online): $39.95 per month, I’m not sure if there’s a 25$ joining fee or not.
I’m posting this here because it’s honestly hard to find on the WW site.
Best of luck to anyone undertaking similar goals… here we go!
HJOORAY! I will be back each week to cheer you on. I have been on Weight Watchers for about 4 months now and have lost 36 lbs. It is not easy that is for sure but it is possible.
Good Luck!
Good luck with weight watchers. I think it is kind of funny because you Allison at Lemonade life and myself have all posted info about weight. Little different spins on each but still we all seem to be on the same page (just different paragraphs.)
Good luck
Good for you, and best of luck. I think it’s brave to post the details online.
As you know, I am joining WW, too. I think the accountability of the weekly weigh-in and writing down what I eat combined with the support of the group (I’m going live) will be what I need. To me, it’s worth the $39.95/month. They are waiving the “registration fee” until March in most states. I was going to start it this week, but with being sick, I’ve postponed it until next week. I’m glad we’ll have the online support of the d-oc!
yay! this is exciting! good luck, beth! I am shooting for 150 as well, with 16 pounds to go. My CDE/nutritionist has been oh so helpful to me with this weight loss project.
Yay! I like WW’s program. I lost weight with it last year before I had foot surgery (I didn’t want to haul around all the extra pounds on crutches). Now I have to do it again. I did a lot of stress eating after the crazy year we had with Daniel. *sigh*
We are incredibly similar in size.
Good luck, Beth. I’ve never really made any New Year resolutions but this year I knew I had to get back to watching what I eat, both for weight control and diabetes control. I went up to 180 and am also shooting for the 150 range. I use Calorie King but have no idea if it’s anything like Weight Watchers.
Woo hoo!! Another one of us on WW!!! I’ve been a member for over a year now and have managed to go up and down the same 6 pounds time and again. My goal is to actually work the program this time round! I do the Core plan and am ‘norwegianwife’ on the message boards! Many of the recipes on my blog are Core friendly with only a few WPA!! Except of course, the marshmallows…….
I’m sure you can do it!
Weight Watchers is the best. I have lost 61 pounds and when I started I was on insulin everyday and had to give myself insulin when I checked my blood sugars. I have now be off the insulin for about 4 months and am still under control. I wish you luck and will hope things go well for you.
