How exciting, Beth. How long before you start using the CGMS? Have you done any training yet?

Yay! I haven’t done any training. The impression I’ve gotten from my endo and Minimed is that I’ll just get it, read the instructions, and put it on. We’ll see if I feel that brave when it gets here. The pump is just an upgrade from the 712 to the new one. I wanted a 500 series, but since I’m on weird meds that sometimes make me super insulin resistant, and my total value can vary between 28 and 60 U, I opted for the 700 series. Next one will be 500 though, in 4 more years.
Sara, there was only a tiny mention of this prior to now… since my dad’s a doctor and he’s paying my medical until Daniel’s practice gets to the point where we get Bar insurance, he’s very pro-technology and generous about financing things like a CGMS. There wasn’t any fight with the insurance. They’re covering 80% of the pump, and 0% of the CGMS… for now. Since I might not get to keep it when we’re on our own insurance, I’m planning on using the heck out of it now!

Congratulations! Can not wait to here how it goes!
I’m starting to really think hard about a pump, so I love to hear what people think about theirs.
BTW, your dad is awesome.

I only spotted this today. I hope you’re having fun with it. I’ll bet you find the CGMS to be transforming. I know that I did.
Thanks for the card. Sorry I’m not interacting much right now.

Oooo… This is so cool. I was just thinking the other day how I need something new ad exciting to give my diabetes management a kick. I can’t upgrade or anything right now, but doing it vicariously through others will suffice! I still get a thrill looking at my real time numbers, even though it’s been almost 18 months.
If you need any CGM advice, I’m more than willing to share. Feel free to drop me an email.
